The Powder Coat Painter is responsible for preparing, powder coating, and finishing metal components used in the manufacturing of MEC aerial work platforms. This position ensures parts are properly prepared, coated, cured, and inspected to meet MEC's quality and production standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare metal parts and surfaces for powder coating, including cleaning, masking, hanging, and positioning parts.
• Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, ovens, and related equipment safely and effectively.
• Apply powder coating evenly and consistently according to specifications.
• Monitor coating thickness, coverage, color, and overall finish.
• Inspect finished parts for defects such as runs, uneven coverage, contamination, orange peel, or other imperfections.
• Make adjustments to equipment and coating processes as needed to maintain quality.
• Properly hang and remove parts from the coating line while minimizing damage to finished surfaces.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and clean powder coating equipment as required.
• Follow production schedules and meet established quality and productivity expectations.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling requirements.
• Properly handle and dispose of powder coating materials and waste.
• Report equipment issues, quality concerns, and production problems to the supervisor.
• Complete required production and quality documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous powder coating, industrial painting, or automotive painting experience preferred.
• Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
• Ability to operate spray equipment and other coating-related tools.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and basic production specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift, move, and position parts as required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use hands for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials and parts as required.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators when applicable.
• Ability to work around paint/powder coating materials, industrial equipment, heat, and manufacturing noise while following all applicable safety requirements.

Preferred Experience

• 1+ year of powder coating or industrial painting experience.
• Experience with electrostatic powder coating equipment.
• Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with basic quality inspection practices.
