Job Title:
Underground Utility Pipe Layer (Water & Sewer)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Underground Utility Pipe Layer to join our team. This position is responsible for installing water, sewer, and storm drain piping systems in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in underground utility construction and works well as part of a crew in a fast-paced field environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install underground water, sewer, and storm drain piping systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and project specifications
• Set pipe to proper line and grade using lasers and levels
• Install fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes, and related components
• Assist with trench layout, bedding, back filling, and compaction
• Ensure proper trench safety and shoring requirements are followed
• Work closely with equipment operators and crew members
• Perform basic maintenance and care of tools and equipment
• Follow OSHA and company safety policies at all times

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in underground utility installation (water/sewer preferred)
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and grade stakes
• Knowledge of trench safety and excavation standards
• Experience working around heavy equipment
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Valid driver’s license preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Ability to work in trenches and uneven terrain
• Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Ability to work extended hours as needed
