Position Title: Accounting Work-Study Level III
Department: Accounting & Business Services Tom Murray Gardent Level
Reports To: Senior Accountant
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Work Study Level III position provides advanced support to the accounting function by assisting with reconciliations, journal entries, and audit‑related activities to ensure accurate and compliant financial records. This role is also responsible for overseeing, assisting, and training other Work Study employees to support efficient workflow and consistent performance. In addition, the position performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties as assigned, including maintaining organized financial documentation and supporting departmental operations.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Assist with accounting activities, including reconciliations and preparation of journal entries to support accurate financial records.
- Assist with audit‑related tasks, including gathering documentation and supporting audit reviews as directed.
- Provide guidance, oversight, and training to other Work Study employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Review work completed by other Work Study employees for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain organized financial and administrative records in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Perform additional administrative and clerical duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
- Assist with accounts payable entries, including data entry of invoices and supporting documentation.
- Assist with accounts receivable entries to ensure accurate and timely posting of financial transactions.
- Perform basic data entry and filing related to accounting and financial documents.
- Assist office staff with general support functions assigned to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Follow established procedures and maintain professionalism when handling documents and information.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned work schedule.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect when interacting with staff, students, and visitors.
- Follow office policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks and accept feedback.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform duties in compliance with university and departmental guidelines.
- Be enrolled as a full‑time student at Schreiner University.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- Basic organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and office procedures.
- Basic computer skills such as email, data entry, and filing systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and complete tasks independently.
