We seek a dynamic scholar who can balance excellence in undergraduate teaching with program development, and who will contribute meaningfully to the goals of the Department of History and Regional Studies.
This position will be part of the teaching fellows program that seeks candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. The program offers a 2-3 year fixed-term appointment with the possibility for promotion at the end of the term.

* Candidates should be prepared to teach introductory surveys in U.S. History, Texas History, and World Civilizations.
* Experience or interest in developing curricula and programming related to deliberative processes, such as Model United Nations, is highly desirable, as is the ability to lead a debate team.
Teaching Expectations:
* The standard teaching load for this position is 5 three-credit courses per semester, for a total of 30 credits hours of teaching during the academic year.
* The ideal candidate will be skilled in teaching small, face-to-face classes and engaging first-year and first-generation college students.
* A commitment to mentoring undergraduate students and encouraging students to major in History is essential.
Departmental Engagement & Program Development:
* The successful candidate will actively support the Department of History and Regional Studies through participation in recruitment and promotional events.
* The new faculty member will collaborate with the department chair to advance the academic and strategic goals of the department.
* All teaching fellows are required to complete a mandatory, compensated 4-week summer faculty development institute at the end of each academic year.
