Bright and Healthy Futures Community Outreach Coordinator

The Bright and Healthy Futures (BHF) Outreach Community Coordinator serves as the primary community liaison for the Bright and Healthy Futures Initiative, a partnership between Schreiner University and the Create Healthy Foundation. This position is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive healthcare workforce pipeline throughout the Create Healthy service area by increasing awareness of nursing and healthcare careers, building strong community partnerships, and guiding students from early career exploration through college enrollment.

Beginning with students as early as eighth grade, the Coordinator works closely with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, students, and families to promote educational opportunities, coordinate scholarship initiatives, and create meaningful pathways into Schreiner University’s nursing programs. Through outreach, advising, career exploration, scholarship coordination, and community engagement, the Coordinator supports the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals while advancing the Foundation’s vision of investing in wellness and empowering healthier communities throughout the Texas Hill Country.

The coordinator also collaborates with campus and community partners to develop and implement nursing summer camp experiences and other educational programming that provides students with hands‑on learning opportunities and early exposure to healthcare careers.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy that increases awareness of nursing and healthcare career pathways throughout the Create Healthy service area.
• Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with middle schools, junior high schools, high schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local leaders.
• Represent the Bright and Healthy Futures Initiative at community events, recruitment fairs, educational programs, and public presentations.
• Deliver presentations to students, parents, educators, and community organizations highlighting healthcare careers, nursing education pathways, scholarship opportunities, and Schreiner University programs.
• Plan and facilitate community information sessions that promote educational access and workforce development initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to expand community partnerships that strengthen the regional healthcare workforce pipeline.

• Provide personalized, concierge-level advising to prospective nursing students beginning in eighth grade through college enrollment.
• Guide students and families through academic planning, nursing career exploration, admissions, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.
• Assist students in selecting appropriate high school coursework that supports admission into nursing programs.
• Coordinate job‑shadowing experiences, healthcare career exploration activities, and other experiential learning opportunities with community partners.
• Maintain regular communication with students and families throughout the recruitment, admissions, scholarship, and enrollment process.

• Recruit, identify, and support qualified applicants for Bright and Healthy Futures scholarships.
• Coordinate scholarship outreach efforts and assist students throughout the application process.
• Review application materials for completeness and eligibility.
• Prepare applicant information for presentation to the Create Healthy Scholarship Selection Committee.
• Communicate scholarship decisions, requirements, and next steps with applicants and recipients.
• Maintain confidential scholarship records and related documentation.

• Maintain a comprehensive recruitment database and student pipeline tracking system.
• Monitor outreach activities, recruitment outcomes, scholarship participation, enrollment trends, and program effectiveness.
