Position OverviewThis is a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) / International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) role. The RN, IBCLC will operate under their own license and assume accountability for the quality of care provided to patients and their families, in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice and the IBLCE code of Professional conduct and Scope of Practice.

The RN, IBCLC is responsible for assessing the breastfeeding dyad and creating a Lactation Plan of care, both verbally and in writing. Responsibilities include providing lactation management services in both inpatient and outpatient settings, facilitating prenatal breastfeeding education, and facilitating a breastfeeding support group for new parents.
Required EducationGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing and current RN licensure in the state of Texas. Current certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
Required Technical SkillsAbility to assist mothers with breastfeeding skills and to work with patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Required Licensure and CertificationCurrent and unrestricted Texas Registered Nurse Licensure, current certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Basic Life Support.
Required ExperienceKnowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a Lactation Plan of Care.
Preferred ExperienceAt least 2 years of experience as an RN and in successfully assisting mothers with breastfeeding.
