The Kerrville State Hospital is the only one of its kind in the state. "We're a 100% mental health facility," said Forensic Psychiatrist, Matthew Faubion, M.D, who is also the Clinical Director for the facility. There are currently 202 patients at the facility, "And that is our maximum," Faubion added. Patients at the hospital have been found not guilty by reason of insanity;

others are incapable of going to court. "So they're sent to our facility for what we call restoration of competence," Faubion went on to say. "The patients are mandated to the hospital through the Texas court system, and they come statewide."
