The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle, restoring it to pre‑accident condition.
Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan the repair work necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld and otherwise attach parts into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or an agreed‑upon equivalent.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- 4‑5 years minimum collision auto body repair experience required.
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
- Work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Pay ranges $80,000 to $120,000 + flat‑rate hourly pay, commensurate with location, skill, education, and experience.
- Guaranteed local or state minimum wage for hours paid below the allowed range.
- Eligibility for bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
