Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive, year‑round, sport‑specific training programs to maximize student‑athlete performance while ensuring safety and compliance with NCAA and conference regulations.
Essential Functions- Design, implement, and evaluate customized, science‑based, in‑season, off‑season, and summer training programs for all sports teams.
- Teach and supervise proper lifting techniques and exercise execution to ensure student‑athlete safety and maximize performance.
- Collaborate closely with athletic trainers to develop injury prevention programs and manage return‑to‑play protocols.
- Work with head coaches to meet team‑specific needs and adhere strictly to NCAA Division III and conference rules.
- Act as a mentor to student athletes to foster a positive, high‑performance, and safe training environment; promote an atmosphere of academic excellence.
- Participate in conference meetings and maintain university safety standards.
- Be responsible for purchase, inventory, and maintenance of supplies and equipment; recommend athletes for awards.
- Develop positive relationships with community and university events; collaborate with Student Affairs and Residence Life staff regarding student behavior.
- Manage funds within an annual budget; process business‑related paperwork (requisitions, travel forms, credit card purchases, travel advances, reimbursements, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certification as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from the CSCC or another national organization.
- Prior collegiate strength coaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in preparation and management of budgets.
- Ability to relate to student‑athletes and communicate effectively as part of a university team.
- Ability to travel overnight with the team.
- Will be certified in CPR, First Aid and AED (updated annually).
- Knowledge and compliance with Schreiner University, American Southwest Conference and NCAA policies.
- Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance, and good driving record.
