Job Summary
Full‑time 1.0 FTE, 8‑hour day shifts, 40 hours per week. This position is based at Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, AK.
Under supervision, the Patient Services Specialist obtains and completes all data related to the registration process, including admission forms, signatures, and insurance information from patients, patient representatives, residents, and clients. The specialist obtains authorizations for inpatient and outpatient visits, processes payments and receipts, and controls the cash box. Additional duties include assisting Business Office staff with filing and mailings, accurately completing computer data entry, and sensitively assisting customers with reimbursement requirements in accordance with regulatory guidelines and providing assistance to customers with special financial needs.
Responsibilities• Manage patient registration and admission documentation.
• Gather and process insurance information and authorizations.
• Handle payments, receipts, and cash box control.
• Support Business Office filing and mailing tasks.
• Enter data accurately into computer systems.
• Provide customer service related to reimbursement and financial needs.
- Training in a clerical setting.
- Experience in a clerical setting.
- Previous mental health or medical office experience.

PayHourly pay range: $21.05 – $31.54, with potential additional compensation such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses.
