This role is a technical execution role focused on battery system performance analysis, electrical testing and evaluation, and advanced backend troubleshooting in direct support of field service and commissioning activities. The Service Engineer is responsible for independently diagnosing performance issues, validating system health, supporting performance and capacity testing, and driving efficient fault resolution through hands‑on analysis, decisive technical judgment, and direct coordination with field teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze test results to validate usable capacity, efficiency, availability, and compliance with project and contractual requirements.
  • Identify abnormal performance trends, degradation indicators, and system limitations, and drive corrective actions through resolution.
  • Independently diagnose complex technical issues using BMS, PCS, EMS, and monitoring platforms.
  • Analyze logs, alarms, event data, and telemetry to determine root cause across hardware, software, controls, and configuration layers.
  • Write electrical test plans, evaluate test results, and recommend corrective actions and next steps during root cause investigations.
  • Define and execute corrective action plans, including recovery steps, retesting, and validation of system restoration.
  • Own technical evaluation and troubleshooting protocols during Tier 1 outages, directing diagnostic strategy, data collection, testing, and corrective actions through system stabilization and return to service.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for performance-related field issues.
  • Provide direct technical support to field service and commissioning teams during critical testing, troubleshooting, and system recovery activities.
  • Support integration testing, system tuning, and performance validation activities as required.
  • Develop and deliver clear technical summaries, performance reports, and diagnostic findings for internal teams and customers.
  • Support root cause analyses (RCAs), corrective action reports, and warranty or performance-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of findings, actions taken, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide feedback into product design, software updates, and service process improvements based on field and performance data.
  • Support Service leadership with technical input for customer communications, risk assessments, and decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years experience supporting utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, power electronics, or grid-connected energy systems.
  • Demonstrated experience executing and supporting battery capacity testing, performance testing, or system acceptance testing.
  • Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex system issues using BMS, PCS, EMS, and site monitoring platforms.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Battery performance metrics, degradation mechanisms, and capacity validation
  • BMS architecture, controls logic, and data interpretation
  • PCS operation, grid interconnection, and protection behavior
  • Experience analyzing alarms, logs, time-series data, and event records to perform root cause analysis.
  • Ability to lead technical evaluation and troubleshooting efforts during high‑severity (Tier
    1) outages.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly direct field teams and document technical findings.
  • Willingness to support commissioning, testing, and outage response activities outside standard business hours when required.
