Position Summary The Education & Training Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Education, SSEATEC, and Facilities/Workforce Development programs. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations; supervising managers and staff; managing budgets and grants; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and supporting the educational, workforce development, and training needs of tribal members. The Director serves as a liaison between program staff, Tribal Administration, Tribal Council, funding agencies, and community partners.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise department managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Establish program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate educational and workforce development programs.
  • Manage departmental budgets, grants, contracts, and financial resources.
  • Proficient in grant writing and grant reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Tribal, Federal, State, BIA, Public Law, and CFR requirements.
  • Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and culturally responsive work environment.
  • Represent KIC at meetings, conferences, and community events.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with funding agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  • Prepare reports, grant proposals, program plans, and presentations.
  • Monitor program outcomes and implement improvements to enhance effectiveness.
  • Participate in organizational planning and senior leadership activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Tribal Compacting.
  • Knowledge of educational administration, program management, budgeting, grants, and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of BIA programs, applicable Public Laws, CFR regulations, and Tribal operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Ability to work effectively with Tribal members, staff, community partners, and government agencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
Physical & Working Conditions

Primarily office-based work with frequent computer use. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Some evening meetings, extended hours, and travel may be required. Must be able to perform essential physical activities associated with office and program operations.
