Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center began in 1923 as Little Flower Hospital, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. Today, it is a modern healthcare facility providing high-quality care to the Ketchikan community.
What You’ll Do- Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate patient care.
- Document care accurately in patient records.
- Delegate tasks to other care team members as appropriate.
- Work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Maintain nursing competency through ongoing education.
- Follow hospital policies, quality standards, safety practices, and infection prevention procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
- Basic computer skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- At least 1 year of nursing experience.
- Previous geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with Long-Term Care experience.
- Knowledge of age-specific patient care and development.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with patients and families.
- Understanding of hospital policies and procedures.
- Ability to safely care for patients and operate medical equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
- Ability to push/pull medical equipment and assist with patient handling.
- Ability to perform CPR when needed.
- Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and airborne particles.
- Fast-paced and sometimes noisy healthcare setting.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and have normal vision and hearing (with corrective devices if needed).
