Peace Health is seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team in Ketchikan, Alaska

Compensation & Incentives
  • Pay Range: $44.77 to $71.09 per hour
  • Compensation is based on years of paid registered nursing experience in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Generous hiring bonus and relocation assistance may be available.
Position Summary

The ICU Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with professional nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and departmental policies. This role collaborates closely with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Accurately document patient care and clinical information in the electronic health record.
  • Delegate and direct patient care activities in accordance with team members' education, licensure, and demonstrated competencies.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and clinical competency through ongoing education and development.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, infection prevention activities, and departmental goals.
  • Support and uphold Peace Health policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Specialty certification
Experience

Required

  • Minimum of one year of recent ICU experience as a Staff Nurse
Licensure & Certifications

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

ACLS and PALS must be obtained upon hire or in accordance with Peace Health Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements.

Additional requirements:

  • Telemetry certification within 90 days of hire
  • 12-Lead EKG Basics within 12 months of hire
Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to apply age-specific growth and development principles when caring for patients across the lifespan.
  • Strong commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret and support organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
Working Conditions

Physical Requirements
  • Safely handle patients in accordance with NIOSH guidelines and established patient-lifting protocols.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to perform prolonged CPR when required.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and squatting.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks and operate medical equipment safely and accurately.
  • Occasional lifting of non-patient loads up to 20 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazardous materials, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and occasionally noisy clinical environments.
