This vacancy is for a WG - 2805-10,Electrician located in the Department of Homeland Security,
U.S. Coast Guard, INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION FACILITY KETCHIKAN in KETCHIKAN, Alaska.

You will serve as a Electrician and be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential building, and on ships with the majority of work being conducted during a ship's pierside or drydock maintenance periods both onboard the vessel and in shoreside shops to related marine systems and equipment.
These jobs require knowledge and application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards. The incumbent is responsible for safe and proper operation of systems and equipment, and for compliance with the National Electrical Code and applicable maritime industry standards and regulations.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Installs, modifies, repairs, loads and tests systems, circuits, equipment and controls with little or no check during the progress or upon completion of the work.
- Tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems and completes repairs and installations.
- Troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment
- Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment, examples are industrial multiphase systems; thermocouple sensors; electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems; emergency warning systems.

- This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment drug test.
