The Mechanic (Seasonal/Temporary – As Needed) is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and incidental mechanical repairs on company and customer vehicles and equipment. Mechanics may be required to design, modify, and fabricate equipment to certain standards upon request. The role also includes a variety of facility maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, electrical repairs, janitorial duties, tire work, and other responsibilities as directed.
EssentialDuties & Job Functions
- Comply with all CCI guidelines, policies, and procedures while on shift, on call, or attending training.
- Demonstrate professional skills and capabilities equal to a Certified Mechanic.
- Apply problem‑solving skills to complete timely maintenance and repair on vehicles, equipment, and machinery, including static and rotating mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct routine and non‑routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on CCI/Kakivik and customer equipment according to the designated PM schedule, executing modifications and repairs as assigned.
- Communicate daily status of current projects to the supervisor to ensure all projects are timely and within CCI standards.
- Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response‑related equipment, policies, procedures, and tactics.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work area.
- Partner with coworkers to learn new skills and share knowledge.
- Manage inventory of critical parts and supplies.
- Perform welding and metal fabrication as required.
- Attend and participate in required meetings, training, and exercises.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Act as a Safety Leader, ensuring the highest priority for HSE for all employees.
- Maintain 100% Safety Standards and Accountability, including compliance with HSE training, reporting safety concerns, participating in safety meetings, documenting incidents, and promoting safe work practices through JSA reviews and safety START cards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment.
- Ability to follow directions in detail.
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and procedures.
- Ability to work well with others in a harsh, remote, and varied environment.
- Skilled interpersonal communication in a small shop setting.
- Intermediate computer skills, including online training, email reporting, and Microsoft Office.
- Clear verbal, written, and reading proficiency in English.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current NSTC card.
- 3–5 years’ experience working as a mechanic.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous welding experience.
- Welding certifications.
- Valid CDL.
- Experience with pumps, heaters, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and rotating equipment.
- Mobility:
Access all controls and parts of machinery; push or pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. - Hearing:
Hear audible safety alarms. - Visual Acuity:
Adequate to perform tasks and recognize hand signals. - Lifting:
Routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, from waist to shoulder, and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet. - Range of Motion:
Demonstrate objective range of motion and grip strength as part of the pre‑hire evaluation.
