Job Summary Warming Center Attendants provide support to shelter guests during overnight and weekend hours on various shifts. Responsibilities includes providing a safe, clean environment, supporting and assisting guests residing in shelter, and documenting any safety/security concerns or rule violations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities Communicate clearly with all staff regarding incidents, guest information, donations, safety concerns etc.
Follow and enforce rules and policies
Support and assist all guests center.
Maintain safety and security of center and its property.
Ensure the privacy and safety of all guests.
Maintain the cleanliness of shelter.
Document shift notes at least once per shift.
Being the shift point of contact for the warming center.
Responsible for coordinating the beds in the center.
Distributes and assists with snacks, laundry, hygiene kits and clothes.
Observes and records significant activity.
Attends and takes part in regular staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
Answers phone and monitors doors and guests.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
At least one-year experience working in a customer service setting.
A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
Minimum of 1-year experience working in a public service or social services setting.
Minimum of 1-year experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with the ability to diffuse situations without heightening the conflict.
Understanding of, or willingness to train in, areas such as trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, and de-escalation.
Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations.
Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants.
Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries while working with clients.
