Job Description

We’re looking for a dynamic Assistant Manager of Transportation Services to join our team in the Ketchikan office. You’ll be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and overseeing seasonal employees, as well as performing intermediate administrative activities related to payroll tracking, auditing, and the coordination of charters.

Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility will be in our Driver Commercial Driver License training program and all facets of the program.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring seasonal employees.
  • Prepare schedules, monitor operations, and process reports.
  • Supervise the transportation services team and the unit’s activities.
  • Apply knowledge of transportation regulations and laws, Company products, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform “Manager on Duty” responsibilities.
  • Analyze and prepare reports.
  • Responsible for the supervision, performance management, salary administration, discipline, and training of directly assigned personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • This job normally requires an associate’s degree or equivalent job experience in a related field.
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.
  • Commercial Driver’s License certification with passenger and airbrake endorsements is required. (The opportunity to secure the license through the Company paid training program is available.)
  • Must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and drug screen and entered into our random drug testing program.
  • Experience supervising employees in a transportation services, customer service, logistical or business environment.
  • This job normally requires three years of progressively responsible positions in transportation services operations.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background report.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America Line/Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized reservations.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail, while working in a group or team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to lift an excess 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
