Position type: Full-Time
Position description: The Special Education Paraprofessional will be responsible for providing support and assistance to high school students identified with special needs. Position is 7 hours per day, effective 2026-27 school year.
Major Responsibilities- Assist the special education teacher in carrying out routine policies and procedures in the classroom and building where assigned.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under teacher direction to support and reinforce classroom instructional and behavioral skills.
- Assist teachers with required physical activity, including walking, stooping, bending, and helping students in and out of wheelchairs, including lifting/supporting students with physical needs.
- Assist teachers with monitoring students in a variety of school environments (e.g., on/off bus, playground, restroom including toileting, field trips) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Applicants must be highly qualified – possess a 2‑year associate’s degree or 2 years of college credits (48 semester or 72 quarter hours) or passage of the Ohio paraprofessional standards exam (PARAPRO Test). Additionally, must hold a valid Ohio educational aide permit.
- Must pass criminal background checks and pre‑employment drug screening.
- Must have competencies required to satisfactorily perform job functions, including adapting to changing work priorities, communicating effectively with students, parents, and teachers, maintaining confidentiality, working as part of a team, and problem‑solving skills.
According to approved salary schedule. This is a spread pay position.
