Position Details

Role: Lecturer – Travel and Tourism

Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary and Benefits: £33,048 to £38,169 per annum, 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, teacher’s pension, retail and leisure discounts, professional development opportunities, access to college courses.

Hours and Weeks: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent – Full time.

Right to Work: This is a UK‑based contract; you must have the right to work in the UK and we cannot offer sponsorship.

About the Role

We are seeking a Lecturer in Travel and Tourism to join our Travel, Tourism and Visitor Economy department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement – Deliver high‑quality teaching, assessment and verification across a range of programmes and levels, supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Curriculum Planning & Innovative Delivery – Develop engaging schemes of work and learning materials, and contribute proactively to curriculum development and innovative teaching approaches.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Monitor learner progress, provide timely feedback and ensure compliance with awarding body standards and internal quality processes.
  • Learner Support, Behaviour & Enrichment – Support students through guidance, behaviour management and enrichment activities, including employer engagement and work experience opportunities.
  • Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance – Maintain accurate records, contribute to team and college activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualifications & Travel & Tourism Expertise – Degree in Travel and Tourism or related subject with GCSE English and maths, supported by recent industry experience and up‑to‑date sector knowledge.
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement – Proven experience delivering and assessing across Levels 1–3, adapting approaches to meet diverse learner needs and support high achievement.
  • Assessment, Curriculum & Industry Knowledge – Experienced in marking across awarding bodies, with strong understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment standards and current industry developments.
  • Communication, Organisation & Collaboration – Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to engage learners, meet deadlines and contribute positively within a team environment.
  • Professional Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality and continuous development, with a flexible approach to working across sites and maintaining high professional standards.
