Role summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Floor Technician to join their Environmental Services Department. This role is responsible for creating a sanitary and safe environment by cleaning assigned areas daily, maintaining hard floor surfaces through various methods, and managing carpets. The technician will also handle waste stream removal, including general, recycling, and infectious waste. The position requires physical stamina for continuous walking, standing, and performing tasks involving lifting, bending, and reaching.

Experience with disinfectants and chemicals, along with adherence to standard precautions and PPE, is necessary. This role is a stepping stone for career growth within Environmental Services and Cleveland Clinic.

As an Environmental Services Floor Technician, you will help create the comfortable and safe environment our patients have come to expect. This role is a great steppingstone to other careers within Environmental Services and departments within Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Create a sanitary, safe environment and enhance the appearance of the facility.
• Clean assigned areas daily.
• Maintain hard floor surfaces by stripping, refinishing, mopping, buffing and auto-scrubbing.
• Maintain carpets with shampoo, extraction, gum removal and daily maintenance.
• Complete waste stream removal, general waste, recycling, infectious waste, etc.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion, including ability to perform work while lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching.
• Requires continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces.
• Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants and other cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Light work – Exerting 11 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
