OverviewWe are looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer, Principal (ISSE) to support the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate (BES) FLITES system. The role will provide cybersecurity oversight, continuous monitoring, and risk assessment for the new FLITES system, a central repository for item data for the Air Force's logistics enterprise.
Responsibilities- Provide cybersecurity support per DoDI 8500.01.
- Assess and continuously monitor cybersecurity risk to ensure legacy and new capabilities adhere to RMF, CSF, NIST, and the authorization official’s ISCM strategy.
- Employ best practices when implementing security controls, including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principles, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques.
- Coordinate security‑related activities with the information security architect, ISSM, ISSO, ISO, and common control provider.
- Complete required cybersecurity certification training per AFI 17‑1303.
- Maintain current, accessible AF IT cybersecurity documentation.
- Support the PM or ISO in maintaining authorization to operate, approval to connect, and implementing corrective actions per the plan of actions and milestones.
- Develop an ISCM strategy with PM and AO staffs and monitor proposed or actual system changes.
- Continuously monitor the IT environment for security‑relevant events.
- Assess proposed configuration changes for impact to cybersecurity posture.
- Evaluate the quality of security controls implementation against performance indicators.
- Report cybersecurity events or configuration changes that impact AF IT authorization or adverse security posture to the AO and affected parties.
- Ensure ISSOs, privileged users, and other personnel receive necessary technical training and obtain cybersecurity certification per AFMAN 17‑1301 and 17‑1303.
- Ensure the AF IT is acquired, documented, operated, used, maintained, and disposed of properly per DoDI 5000.02 and 8510.01.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 10 years of experience in the technical/professional discipline performed.
- Active T3/Secret security clearance.
- Experience with access control, configuration management, system and communications protection, contingency planning, incident handling, system and information integrity, security and privacy training, and awareness.
- Experience in software development activities and related cybersecurity tools.
- Experience performing cybersecurity duties per DoDI 8500.01, AFI 17‑130, and 17‑1301.
- Experience validating, evaluating, and analyzing findings with automated testing tools (Fortify, Checkmarx, Sonar Qube, App Scan).
- Experience using DoD tracking systems (e.g., Jira, HP ALM, eMASS) to document deficiencies, vulnerabilities, and change requests.
- Experience conducting ISCM, maintaining ongoing awareness of security, vulnerabilities, and threats.
- At least principal proficiency in DCWF Information Systems Security Developer (631) based on DoDI 8510.01, AFMAN 17‑1305 & AFI 17‑101.
- Required GIAC GCSA, ISC² CISSP‑ISSEP (preferred). Other Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master) preferred.
- Working knowledge of Agile Development methodology and tools such as Check Marx, Sonar Qube, Maven, Fortify, Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket.
