Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join the Trust’s directly employed labour force to provide day‑to‑day reactive service and planned maintenance works across the Trust estate.
You will be expected to have an NVQ/City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in one or more skills related to Estates activity, proven skills & knowledge together with a multi‑skilled approach to maintenance tasks.
Working Monday to Friday 08:00–16:00 with a 30‑minute unpaid break, this is a 37.5 hour per week. Shift times are subject to change. You will also be on call one week out of seven.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for enthusiastic maintenance assistants who, having gained significant experience, are at the top of their profession and who are also willing to take a hands‑on approach to a range of duties.
Well‑motivated, enthusiastic, experienced maintenance assistants who fit the above criteria and who are looking for a rewarding career with a forward‑thinking organisation would be ideal for these posts. Applicants should also have good organisational skills and be able to take the lead on specific maintenance and reactive situations. The post is critical in maintaining a safe and appropriate physical environment for our patients, visitors and staff.
Previous NHS experience would be an advantage but not essential. The role is flexible with the ability to work between an office and home base.

The purpose of this job is to assist the Estates Department to carry out or oversee the repair, maintenance or installation of plant, equipment and buildings belonging to the Trust.
