COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
Salary up to $ annually.

Responsibilities
- Hands‑on development, supervision and management of all mediums of communication with the community, including traditional and digital communications, marketing, public affairs and media relations.
- Oversight and administration of all print and electronic publications, social media accounts, and the City website.
- Development and implementation of the City’s brand guidelines and promotion strategy.
- Coordination of media coverage, public information projects, and special events.
- Preparation of speeches and presentations for City officials, including the Mayor’s State of the City address.
- Act as lead communicator during crisis or emergency situations.
- Supervise a small staff and act as liaison to boards, committees, and community groups.
- Ensure compliance with communication policy and maintain positive relationships with the media.
- Develop and maintain mailing lists and collaborate with departments on marketing materials.
- Conduct research, produce reports, and organize focus groups and surveys.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in public administration, business management, journalism, mass media communications or public relations.
- Degree in journalism, communications, English, public relations, public administration or related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of public information, media relations, marketing, social media, graphic design and project management.
- Excellent written and oral communication, editing, research and interview skills.
- Proficiency in design and layout of marketing brochures, flyers and newsletters.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to lead staff and coordinate activities with other agencies.
- Experience overseeing website development and municipal operations planning.
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of NIMS training preferred.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in journalism, communications, public administration or a related field.
