Job Description Summary

The Medical Assistant - Front/Back Swing, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management. This role assists the providers within scope of practice to provide quality patient care.

• Direct Patient Care
  • Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms frequency and severity.
  • Provide courteous and compassionate care.
  • Document all required information in the electronic medical record, including meaningful use data, pay-for-performance data, and ACO related information. (Allscripts experience preferred)
  • Provide injections, immunizations and other patient care services as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Provide assistance during medical procedures.
  • Use electronic medical records to handle lab results, prescription management, and referrals.
  • Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
  • Communicate accurately with patients when answering questions and concerns.
  • Maintain patient records and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
  • Disinfect exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at the end of the day.
  • Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.
• Admin Support
  • Answer telephones in a cheerful manner.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Take messages using electronic medical records.
  • Greet and check in patients.
  • Address patient requests and inquiries.
  • Resolve patient concerns.
  • Process insurance issues (e.g., verifications and authorizations) and assist patients in understanding insurance plans.
  • Return calls as necessary.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED required.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  
  Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA or AMCA, BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Experience:
  
  At least one year of related medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Re‑processing/procedural experience highly preferred.

The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity, consistent with Marin Health’s compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
