DescriptionThe Grants Accountant is responsible for advanced accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing reports. They are responsible for funds management of restricted, auxiliary, scholarship, and agency funds. This position works with grant administrators to coordinate budgets and interacts with federal, state, and private agencies relating to grant activity. They are also responsible for ensuring financial records are in compliance with policies and regulations of the college and grant awards.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Administrative Dean, Financial and IT Operations.
Pell, Stafford Loans, SEOG, FWSP, FWEP, FSAG, Bright Futures and CDDV.
- Knowledge of government accounting, auditing, and expenditure control.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and procedures in the receipt, custody, and expenditure of monies.
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of professional and paraprofessional accounting personnel.
- Ability to prepare financial and statistical reports.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Skill with a PC and software, especially in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an Associate's Degree in a related field, required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of accounting experience or bookkeeping experience.

- Ability to sit at a desk and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Works inside an office environment.
