Building Official

The Building Official is responsible for overseeing and enforcing compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and standards for residential and commercial construction projects. This role ensures all inspections, plan reviews, and permitting activities meet the requirements of the Florida Building Code and client jurisdictional standards.

• Interpret and enforce the Florida Building Code and applicable local ordinances
• Ensure all construction activities comply with approved plans, permits, and regulations
• Serve as the authority on code interpretation and application

• Perform or oversee inspections across multiple trades (building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
• Review inspection results and determine approval status (approved, approved with comments, or rejected)
• Ensure timely completion of inspections to meet project deadlines

• Review construction plans and specifications for code compliance
• Provide guidance to contractors, engineers, and architects on code requirements
• Assist in resolving design and field issues to maintain compliance

• Coordinate with municipalities, contractors, and project stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, reports, and approvals
• Support departmental processes including permitting and documentation

• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and design professionals
• Provide clear explanations of code requirements and corrective actions
