The Guide will create a safe and nurturing classroom environment and will maintain high expectations for student success.

Responsibilities Classroom and Curriculum

To create a nurturing, respectful, beautiful, and safe classroom environment with high expectations and standards

  • Develop and implement curriculum in accordance with school curriculum guidelines, Montessori philosophy, Sunshine State Standards, and best practices.
  • Maintain all materials, furniture, library books in good condition. Notify director of needs for repair or replacement.
  • Work with instructional team and Principal to develop and implement supplemental curriculum studies
  • Supervise, guide and support Classroom Assistant to effectively share and participate in classroom activities to meet academic directives.
  • Establish and maintain Montessori classroom culture that encourages respect, exploration, responsibility, cooperation, and intellectual growth.
  • Plan and coordinate field trips that enhance classroom curriculum.
Student and Family Support

To ensure that students are safe and meeting grade level expectations and to collaborate with parents to enhance student achievement

  • Maintain responsibility for student safety and physical well being at all times.
  • Hold parent/teacher/student conferences twice yearly (more as needed) to provide feedback on student progress.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all parent inquiries.
  • Communicate with parents via Tuesday news and school website.
  • Complete ESE paperwork and attend IEP meetings as needed.
  • Provide extra support as needed to students and parents new to Montessori.
  • Help plan and attend all Open Houses and Parent Education nights.
  • Attend and assist with all school plays and performances, overnight trips.
  • Maintain accurate academic and personal student records and complete Student Progress Reports twice a year.
  • Be familiar with the Parent Handbook.
Administrative Responsibilities

To assist in the efficient and effective management of the school

  • Demonstrate professionalism in every aspect of the job and adhere to school guidelines and professional standards.
  • Follow protocols for managing information (i.e. attendance), and completing requests (i.e. supply orders, personal days), as further detailed in Employee Handbook.
  • Observe all school deadlines ( i.e. newsletters, progress reports).
  • Attend all faculty/staff meetings.
  • Participate in all staff work days.
  • Help organize and/or attend school fundraising events.
  • Voice concerns and seek help from Principal in a timely and positive manner.
  • Notify office manager of all repair/maintenance needs.
