Substitute Teacher
The Substitute Teacher for The College of the Florida Keys Academy is a part-time, temporary role focused on providing effective classroom instruction. The ideal candidate is a flexible and adaptable individual who can ensure a consistent and engaging learning environment when the regular teacher is absent. Responsibilities include managing the classroom, following lesson plans, and supporting student learning. Teaching assignments will be determined based on the applicant's educational and work experience.
The position reports directly to the principal or their designee at CFK Academy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of CFKA mission, policies, procedures, and services.
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply effective classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in using educational technology to facilitate lessons.
- Ability to read, understand, and implement detailed lesson plans and school-specific procedures.
- Strong adaptability and flexibility to handle unexpected situations and work in diverse classroom settings.
- Demonstrated ability to always supervise and maintain the safety and well-being of students.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
Education and
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or 60+ credit hours
- Minimum age of 18 at the time of application.
- Ability to pass a Level 2 background check, which includes fingerprinting by a law enforcement agency or properly trained district personnel.

Physical
Skills:
- This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and occasional lifting of classroom materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- The ability to quickly navigate the school building and grounds is essential.
Environmental Conditions:
- The position primarily involves working indoors in a classroom setting. However, duties may also require supervision of students during outdoor activities. Work may also take place in specialized areas.
- There may be limited exposure to common classroom allergens such as dust or cleaning supplies.
