Adjunct, Health Sciences

The Adjunct, Health Sciences, position is contracted on a per-semester basis. This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities that are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustees policies. Teaching assignments may include Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Human Body, and Microbiology courses. Hours will vary according to class schedules. This position reports to the Director of Nursing, Arts, Sciences, and Hospitality.

Of Duties
  • Instructs assigned courses to promote student success.
  • Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students and communication with administration.
  • Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providing feedback.
  • Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safety in their use.
  • Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement.
  • Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program area taught.
  • Assists in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Ability to deliver high-quality instruction in a range of biology courses.
  • Strong student orientation and ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.

Education and Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in biology or a related field with 18 graduate semester hours of prefix-specific coursework in the field, required. Preference will be given to credentials in multiple academic disciplines.
  • Three (3) years' teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
  • Three (3) years' work experience in field is preferred.

Supplemental Information

Online instructors must reside in the state of Florida or have the ability to perform their work within the State of Florida. This is a part-time teaching assignment. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level. Consult the annual Salary Schedule for additional information. Please submit all materials online.
