Director, Workforce Development And Continuing Education
The Director, Workforce Development and Continuing Education, is responsible for coordinating the College's efforts to provide impactful workforce development and continuing education activities, primarily focused on the provision of high demand accelerated skills (and industry credentials) training. Work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned Academic Dean, and includes planning, managing, and increasing the number of CFK courses, workshops, and conference offerings, expanding community and employer (non-credit) collaborations, workforce development opportunities, contract training, management and training for the Apprenticeship Program, and enhancing continuing education processes.
Profitable and in-demand community education programs such as motorcycle rider training are also a focus of this position. Beginning with a department of one and closely collaborating with Academic Deans to leverage program resources across course delivery methods, the incumbent will have the opportunity and charge to increase the College capacity to provide Workforce Development and Continuing Education services, improve student and client outcomes, and increase revenue, in support of the College mission to more fully serve the FL Keys region.
Of Duties
Job responsibilities include:
- Developing a robust schedule of workforce development and continuing education courses.
- Providing oversight and direction for the Apprenticeship programs.
- Collaborating with the academic deans to provide support for the development and implementation of contracted training or leveraged services.
- Securing details of specialized information, coordinating office work, and providing information regarding the services and operations of the Department.
- Collaborating with the College's marketing department to market and promote courses, programs, and events.
- Overseeing and coordinating the Apprenticeship programs for the Key West Campus.
- Overseeing the Apprenticeship programs in the Middle and Upper Keys.
- Supervising and training Apprenticeship program staff.
- Serving as an advisor for students registered in the Apprenticeship programs.
- Developing, scheduling, implementing, and evaluating Apprenticeship Programs.
- Facilitating and maintaining accreditation with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) as an Accredited Training Sponsor (ATS).
- Ensuring that all Apprentices are entered into the US Department of Labor's Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Data System (RAPIDS).
- Overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Commercial Driver License Third Party Administrator Agreement.
- Serving on State and College-wide committees representing The College of the Florida Keys.
- Participating in the College's annual planning and budgeting process.
- Following ADDIE or similar model, assessing need, designing, developing, and implementing new programs and courses.
- Leading revenue and business development for the department.
- Arranging for Apprenticeship Advisory Committee meetings.
- Working on behalf of the Apprenticeship Advisory Committee, to interview and rank the incoming applicants for the Apprenticeship programs.
- Preparing monthly reports for submission to the Board of Trustees.
- Managing the development and processing of course information and ensuring the entry of information in the College's database.
- Managing the Department's budgets.
- Coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of non-credit instructor payroll and the submission of noncredit instructor recommendations to hire.
- Developing strategic partnerships for business and economic development and training, seminar, and workshop opportunities.
- Developing collaborative relationships within the profession, the College, and the community.
- Regularly meeting with supervising dean, Office of Academic Affairs, and other College stakeholders and units.
- Managing the Department's efforts, activities, and responsibilities regarding accreditation and reaffirmation.
- Attending training as required.
- Assisting in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
- Required to attend Fall and Spring CFK Graduation/Commencement.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, abilities, and skills include:
- Ability to manage projects and budgets with specified goals, objectives, and timelines.
- Knowledge of Florida Department of Education Registered Apprenticeship programs and the Standards of Apprenticeship.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar, in order to prepare documents and compose letters.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of College policies, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of standards of confidentiality.
- Ability to use sound judgment and make decisions when applying college policy and procedures.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously, under time constraints, and in stressful situations.
