Position: Adjunct Instructor - Culinary (Key West Campus)

Culinary Arts Adjunct Instructor

The College of the Florida Keys is seeking an adjunct instructor for Culinary Arts. Courses are three credits and this position will teach from the Key West Campus.

Essential

Job Duties

1. Prepares, instructs, and grades all coursework and ensures use of appropriate testing and grading procedures.
2. Teach culinary arts lab and lecture courses.
3. Develop lesson plans and assess student performance.
4. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen lab. 5. Effectively uses oral and written communication skills.
6. Mentor students in professional standards, teamwork, and career readiness.
7. Support a culture of professionalism, creativity, and continuous learning.
8. Maintains regularly scheduled hours to provide instruction for assigned class meeting times, dates, and locations.
9. Maintain records of student attendance. 10. Maintains timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities. 11. Keeps current in the program area taught. 12. Assists in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate. 13. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience, required.
• Minimum of five years of professional culinary experience in restaurants, hotels, resorts, catering, or institutional food service, preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in higher education, preferred.
• Experience using Canvas, preferred. (A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
• Current Serv Safe® Manager Certification (or ability to obtain before teaching).

Environmental Conditions:

• Works in a culinary lab. (Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with a disability.)

Supplemental Information

This is a part-time teaching assignment. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level. Consult the annual Salary Schedule for additional information.
