Starting Pay: $45,917/year
This position involves inspecting the general condition of the facility, fire and safety equipment, and reporting all discrepancies to the maintenance supervisor. The role requires performing floor, carpet, and wall cleaning, as well as minor carpentry and general construction repairs/modifications in collaboration with inmates. Work is carried out under the general supervision of the maintenance supervisor or maintenance specialist and is reviewed for compliance with industry standards and code requirements.
Responsibilities- Maintain work area, including cleaning floors, painting, and cleaning carpets.
- Maintain records and reports on materials/equipment used.
- Review and prioritize daily work orders assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Clean buffs, strips, and wax floors.
- Paint items and areas as necessary.
- Clean carpets with carpet extraction equipment.
- Operate a variety of electrically powered tools and equipment.
- Respond to daily system failures such as leaks and water line breaks.
- Check facility telephones and television equipment for proper operation.
- Perform a variety of building maintenance tasks, including some grounds work if necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimal experience working with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, buffing, stripping floors, and painting.
- Knowledge of facility and grounds maintenance practices and procedures.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, guides, and specifications.
- Ability to analyze information, identify potential problems, and perform preventative maintenance.
- Ability to operate and maintain the tools and equipment required for the job.
- Ability to perform basic carpentry, masonry, and floor repair work.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Position regularly involves heavy manual labor requiring strenuous physical effort.
- Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds.
The work involves risks requiring the use of safety equipment and adherence to safety precautions and regulations. Occasionally work is performed in conditions that may cause discomfort or unpleasantness, including inside, outside, and in confined spaces.
