Job Summary:

Regularly performs the full range and scope of maintenance and housekeeping services including upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment for NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) guest rooms and public spaces. Assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs, using various equipment as required. Takes initiative to ensure all facility aspects are working correctly.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform work in at least two of the following trades: plumbing, washer/dryer repair, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Maintain a work order log and follow up as required; report status to supervisor; log trouble calls with contractors as appropriate.
  • Plumbing: basic repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P‑traps, shut‑off valves, washing machines, water supply lines; clean, reseal, replace defective parts or units; install water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets, and sinks.
  • Washer/Dryer Repair: routine maintenance on washers and dryers including cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings; refer complex problems to supervisor.
  • HVAC: recognize causes of faulty equipment and assist in repairs on a variety of HVAC units.
  • Electrical: recognize and report electrical problems; make repairs as appropriate; replace fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs, and tubes.
  • Carpentry: measure, cut, construct, or repair wood or wood‑substitute items; conduct basic repairs such as replacing screens, window and door frames, molding, trim, and drywall.
  • Painting: prepare areas and apply coatings by brushing, rolling, and spraying; ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected, and free of drips and runs.
  • Other tasks such as general housekeeping, maintenance of facilities, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure work assignments are spot‑checked on a daily basis via documented inspection reports; complete recurring assignments (e.g., follow‑up on maintenance requests from guests, housekeeping, or front desk) independently.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum two years of demonstrated skill in at least two of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and painting.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental rules, procedures, tools, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemicals, and basic safe work practices.
  • Completed required safety and security training.
  • Physical ability for substantial standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting up to 45 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds (assisted).
  • Ability to climb, descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions.
  • Risk tolerance for normal property operation risks, indoor and outdoor work, exposure to extreme weather, dust, or dirty conditions.
  • Valid state driver’s license may be required for travel to other facilities.
  • Availability for workdays on weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime.

    Experience:

    One year of general maintenance practices (upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment).
  • Specialized

    Experience:

    Three years of maintenance work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
  • Education:

    One year of high school education may be substituted for three months of general experience; a high school diploma or GED substitutes one year of general experience.
