- Location: Key West Naval Air
- Shift: Monday Through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Diagnose and repair John Deere tractors with flex-wing mower attachments used for large-area turf maintenance.
- Service and maintain zero-turn mowers, pickup trucks, equipment trailers, and a water truck to ensure they're ready for daily use.
- Troubleshoot and repair small engine equipment such as trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws.
- Test-operate equipment after repairs to confirm proper function and safety.
- Perform welding or fabrication work to repair or reinforce equipment parts when needed.
- Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; request replacements as needed.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and securing equipment for transport.
- Train or guide crew members on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
- Stay up to date on manufacturer service updates and technical bulletins.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all mechanical and motorized landscaping equipment.
- Maintain accurate service logs documenting repairs and maintenance performed.
- Coordinate with landscaping crews and supervisors to schedule maintenance with minimal downtime.
- Ensure all equipment meets company and regulatory safety standards.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Small Engine Technician.
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining tractors, mowers, trailers, trucks, and small engine equipment
- Experience working in a landscaping, construction, municipal, or agricultural
- Experience diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid RealID
- Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.
- Technical certification in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics.
- Welding and fabrication skills for custom repairs or reinforcements.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with field crews and supervisors.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.

- Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven outdoor surfaces, including gravel, grass, and mud.

- Climbing onto and off of tractors, trailers, and large mowers; may involve ladders or step platforms.
- Reach overhead and at awkward angles to access engine compartments or mounted attachments.
- Use of hand and power tools requiring fine motor skills, grip strength, and steady hand-eye coordination
- Push or pull heavy equipment parts, trailers, or machinery components during repairs or repositioning.
- Must be able to detect mechanical issues by sight and sound, including leaks, vibrations, or unusual noises.
- Operate trucks, tractors, and mowers for testing and transport; requires full range of motion and spatial awareness.
- Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Exposure to loud machinery, dust, dirt, fumes, and chemicals used in equipment maintenance.
- Tasks may involve confined spaces, uneven or slippery terrain, and close contact with hot or vibrating equipment.
- Regular handling of oils, solvents, and cleaning agents, with appropriate PPE usage required.
