Title
Military and Family Life Counselor – School (MFLC Tier
2)
Key West, Florida. Candidates must be local to or willing to relocate to Key West.
Responsibilities- Provide the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military and community installations, schools, summer camps, and on‑demand assignments.
- Deliver non‑medical counseling, assessment, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, follow‑up, and parent training.
- Consult with parents, personnel, schools, and installation command on behavioral health issues affecting children and youth.
- Participate in health‑fair, training and wellness presentations, and other base/installation activities.
- Enter counselor activity data daily through mobile or web application, ensuring accurate reporting while protecting confidentiality.
- Maintain working relationships with community resources and linkages for children and youth.
- Abide by line‑of‑sight protocol, collaborate with points of contact (POC), and manage duty‑to‑warn and restricted‑reporting situations per DoD protocol.
- Participate in regular supervision, in‑services, quality‑improvement initiatives, pilot programs, and other contract activities as assigned.
- Master’s degree in a mental health related field from an accredited graduate program.
- Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from any U.S. State, District of Columbia, U.S. Territory, or Commonwealth.
- Less than 2 years of post‑licensure clinical experience.
- Intermediate‑level competency in technology:
Microsoft Suite, internet navigation, mobile/tablet and application use, and video‑conferencing. - Proficiency in engaging military members or children in emergent situations and traveling within installations and schools.
- Current U.S. Citizenship and fluency in English.
- Completed National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI), Installation Records Check (IRC), Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check.
- Valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license (and, if required, military vehicle operator’s permit).
- Compliance with site‑specific immunization or vaccination requirements as needed.
- School‑assigned counselors must have prior school‑setting experience to qualify for that role.
- Capacity to operate in diverse military installation environments, including rugged or outdoor conditions.
Salary range: $59,922 – $100,280 (adjusted based on experience, education, and location). May be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
