Description
General Description:
The Aquatic Center Technician is responsible for instructing swimming lessons at the pool facility and maintaining safety. This position Reports to the Athletic Director and maintains no more than 25 hours per week. Schedules may vary according to need.
Examples of Duties
Essential Job Duties:
1. Responsible for the safety of all individuals enrolled in all classes held at CFK pool.
2. Ensures that under no condition the pool is left unattended when there are people swimming in the pool.
3. Gives aid to those in distress and administers First Aid and C.P.R. According to industry standards.
4. Teaches aquatic classes and lifeguards if certified.
5. Maintains order in the swimming pool facility and ensures proper use of all available equipment for compliance with safety standards.
6. Opens and closes the pool facility as needed.
7. Completes necessary course roster forms, Accident/Incident forms, and time sheets in an accurate and timely manner.
8. Completes maintenance tasks or pool operation procedure assigned by the Athletic Director.
9. Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
10. Follows the guidelines set forth in the Aquatic Staff manual.
Assists in supporting events at the aquatic facility or off-site for college sanctioned events.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of all safety guidelines set forth in the Aquatic Staff Manual.
• Knowledge of proper swimming strokes and techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain a harmonious working relationship with fellow employees and pool patrons.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
• Proficient in the use of technology.
Education and Qualifications:
• One (1) year of experience of teaching aquatic classes or three (3) years of participation on swim team and involvement of working with groups of children. (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications)
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
• Current certifications in American Red Cross or equivalent required:
1. Lifeguard Training if performing duties as such.
2. Standard First Aid
3. C.P.R. for the Professional Rescuer
4. Water Safety instructor or equivalent experience for classes instructing
Physical Skills:
• Moderate (15-44lbs) lifting
Environmental Conditions:
• Working in an outside environment around a swimming pool.
