Position Summary

Monroe High School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Boys Varsity Tennis Coach to lead and develop our tennis program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong coaching knowledge, effective leadership, and a commitment to fostering athletic excellence, academic responsibility, and positive sportsmanship. The coach will guide student-athletes in skill development, competitive performance, and personal growth while upholding all MHSAA and district policies.
Qualifications
  • Prior tennis coaching experience at the high school level or higher is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, match strategies, and conditioning appropriate for competitive varsity-level play.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, teach, and mentor student-athletes.
  • Ability to promote teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanlike conduct.
  • Commitment to enforcing all MHSAA rules, district policies, and codes of conduct.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, staff, and administrators.
  • Dedication to supporting and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Boys Varsity Tennis program.
  • Plan and conduct structured, effective practices that emphasize skill development, strategy, and competitive readiness.
  • Coach athletes during matches, providing instruction and adjustments to enhance performance.
  • Oversee and support the development of any sub-varsity levels or feeder programs as needed.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports athlete well-being and confidence.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, families, and the athletic department regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates.
  • Ensure compliance with all MHSAA, district, conference, and program regulations.
  • Model professional behavior, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times.
Additional Information
  • This is a seasonal stipend position in accordance with the Monroe Public Schools coaches' contract.
  • All candidates must meet MHSAA coaching requirements and complete any required certifications or training before the start of the season.
