Role SummaryAs a Rare Disease Medical Advisor, you will translate strategy into impactful field medical action—enabling early diagnosis, evidence generation, and access for patients in need. You will execute the Medical Affairs Plan, drive scientific exchange, support evidence generation, and collaborate cross‑functionally while ensuring compliance with AstraZeneca’s ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Execute the Medical Affairs Plan in alignment with the TA Medical Lead and cross‑functional brand teams.
- Deliver scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and decision‑makers to support appropriate use of AstraZeneca’s rare disease medicines.
- Drive the implementation of disease education, diagnostic initiatives, and patient identification projects.
- Drive the rollout of launch readiness and lifecycle management activities for assigned indications.
- 60‑70% of your time will be dedicated to field medical interactions and activities.
- Build peer‑to‑peer relationships with Key External Experts, academic partners, and referral centres.
- Organise, lead, and present at scientific meetings, advisory boards, and symposia.
- Contribute to speaker training, CME partnerships, and scientific programmes.
- Gather and communicate scientific insights that inform local strategy and identify opportunities for data generation or access improvement.
- Contribute to brand strategy, launch support, and evidence generation.
- Support planning and operationalisation of local studies, registries, and Investigator‑Initiated Studies.
- Contribute to the development and review of scientific materials, ensuring accuracy, balance, and compliance.
- Disseminate emerging clinical data to internal and external stakeholders ethically and objectively.
- Partner with Market Access, Commercial, and Regulatory teams to ensure scientific and medical integrity.
- Provide field‑based medical input to access dossiers, value communication, and payer interactions.
- Deliver medical training and scientific support to internal colleagues.
- Support early access and expanded access programmes under guidance from the TA Medical Lead.
- Ensure all activities comply with AstraZeneca ethical standards, SOPs, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain up‑to‑date training on Ethical Interactions, GPEI, and Rare Disease policies.
- Accurately document medical interactions, adverse event reports, and insights in compliance systems.
- Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, or Life Sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs or related scientific roles within rare diseases or Hematology specialty.
- Experience in Rare Hematological Disorders & BMT is a plus.
- Proven ability to translate scientific data into clinical value and communicate with scientific credibility.
- Strong presentation, analytical, and project coordination skills.
- Deep understanding of Saudi healthcare systems, referral patterns, and access pathways.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
- Willingness to travel across KSA (50%).
- Experience supporting product launches or early‑access programmes.
- Active contribution to medical education or registry collaborations.
- Familiarity with real‑world data, market access dossiers, or diagnostic collaborations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross‑functional teams with both medical and commercial stakeholders.
