The Field Service Technician installs, commissions, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs Flowserve pumps, seals, and other equipment across industries such as oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater, depending on customer engagement. The role provides real-time technical support to customers and recommends repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment. The technician troubleshoots onsite at customer facilities and the team remains the face of Flowserve, delivering world-class service and creating a lasting competitive advantage for our products and services.
- Make direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
- Assess mechanical problems and take actions to resolve promptly.
- Work side-by-side with customer personnel and lead work crews as required.
- Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
- Ensure equipment is installed successfully and on schedule; check equipment prior to start-up and assess start-up performance.
- Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.
- Train customers in operating and maintaining Flowserve products.
- Collaborate with Flowserve support organizations, including repair centers, customer service, and sales engineering.
- Maintain and submit organized, accurate records, including daily reports, quotes, work performed, and time/materials charged.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the industrial applications and operations of pumps, valves, seals, actuators, and mechanical equipment.
- Install mechanical equipment and repair pump equipment, including installing mechanical seals and changing seal faces/gaskets/O-rings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; demonstrate a proactive, self-starting approach.
- Hold and maintain an active driver’s license with a clean driving record; travel (including globally) for extended periods as required.
- Work overtime as needed to minimize impact to customers.
- Engage in physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds/25 kg, climbing and reaching around large equipment, and working outdoors year-round.
- Communicate Flowserve’s values for ethics, safety, and quality in all actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Professional certifications in this field.
- Ability to collaborate with unfamiliar teams.
- HS Diploma / GED and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with installing mechanical equipment.
- Experience with repairing pump equipment and installing mechanical seals.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
