Job Summary A Bolting & Torquing Technician is responsible for performing bolting and torquing activities during maintenance, shutdown, and commissioning works, ensuring flange integrity and compliance with approved standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual torquing activities up to 36 mm.
- Carry out hydraulic torquing operations up to 155 mm.
- Execute bolt tensioning activities for stud sizes ranging from 2 3/8” to 4”.
- Inspect, prepare, and manage flanges to ensure proper joint integrity.
- Select and install appropriate gaskets in accordance with job requirements.
- Troubleshoot seized or damaged bolts during maintenance and shutdown works.
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on hydraulic torquing and tensioning tools.
- Prepare and submit Final Torque Reports (FTR) and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with approved procedures and applicable standards including API, ASME PCC-1-2022, and SAES-351.
- Follow HSE requirements, work permit systems, and site safety procedures at all times.
- High School Diploma or ITI / Vocational Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in bolting and torquing activities during industrial maintenance, shutdown, or commissioning works.
- Strong knowledge of flange management and gasket selection.
- Ability to safely operate hydraulic bolting and tensioning equipment.
- Good troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
- ECITB Bolting Competency (MJI Modules) or OEM Certification.
- OSHA or NEBOSH certification (Preferred).
- Work Permit Receiver (WPR).
- Work is performed at industrial sites and field locations.
- Exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Requires use of PPE and strict adherence to safety policies.
- May involve shift work, overtime, and extended hours during shutdown or commissioning activities.
