Position SummaryThe responsibilities of this position comprise of teaching assigned courses in Art, Art History, and related fields. As an Adjunct Faculty member, the post holder is expected to perform all duties professionally, is expected to remain current in the discipline and pedagogy and ethically support the policies and mission of the University.
Reports toDirect Report to:
Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts & Design
- Teach select courses in Art and Art History
- Provide feedback and assessment of student performance
- Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment
- Demonstrate ongoing professional competency by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and remaining current in the academic discipline.
- Attend departmental meetings and participate in faculty development activities as required
- Support policies as stated in the Chaminade School of Humanities, Arts & Design Handbook and in course syllabi.
- The Adjunct instructor will deliver student-focused, active-learning instruction and conduct assessments of student, program, and course learning outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean, within the scope of the Faculty handbook.

Some holiday and weekend work may be required.
Education And Experience Minimum- MA, MFA, or PhD in Art, Art History, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in teaching at an institution of higher education for at least one (1) year;
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in Art, Art History, or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body at all levels of the university
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment
- Strong knowledge of Arts Education and pedagogical approaches
- Familiarity with educational technology and ability to use it to enhance student learning
- Organized with meticulous attention to detail
- Dedication to providing high-quality education to students
- Familiarity with educational technology and ability to use it to enhance student learning
- Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality
- High integrity and ethical standards
- Willing to travel and teach at satellite campuses and/or online or hybrid courses as assigned.
