Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation And Maintenance Supervisor
Immediate vacancies available for permanent full-time positions in Lahaina.
Supervises the operation, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a Class II, III, or IV wastewater treatment plant and related facilities through subordinate supervisors; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing characteristics include immediate charge and twenty-four (24) hour responsibility for all operational, maintenance, overhaul, and repair activities at a Class II, III, or IV wastewater treatment plant and tributary pumping plants.
Grade IV:
This level is characterized by primary responsibility for supervising through a subordinate level of supervision, all operational, maintenance, overhaul, and repair activities at a Class IV wastewater treatment plant, as rated by the State Board of Certification of Operating Personnel in Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
Examples of duties include supervising the overall operation, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a Class II, III, or IV wastewater treatment plant; inspecting plant equipment and observing unit process functions; assigning duties to plant personnel and instructing and supervising them in their work; determining causes of malfunctions and initiating corrective actions; supervising the operation of chemical feed systems and in the operation, installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and testing of all wastewater treatment and pumping plant equipment;
responding to emergency calls; and operating a motor vehicle to transport personnel and equipment.
Minimum qualification requirements include a combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, and four and one-half (4-1/2) years of work experience in the operation and maintenance of a Grade III or higher level wastewater treatment plant, six (6) months of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. License requirement includes possession of the applicable Hawaii Mandatory Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate and possession of a valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type
3).
