Lead Medical Technician

About the Position:

This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Department of Pathology,Clinical Pathology Service Honolulu, Hawaii.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience;

One year of specialized experience which includes performing multi step laboratory examinations and procedures; conducting routine quality control checks and trouble shooting common instrument issues: and runs quality control samples on all instruments; perform inventory and ordering procedures.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

One full year (18 semester hours) of progressively higher level of graduate education in a field directly related to the position, such as, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) degrees or Medical Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology. (

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
