Salary: $4,054 to $5,133 per month (SR-14, Step C to I).
Position: Motor Carrier Safety Officer I (HAWAII ISLAND)
Motor Carrier Safety Officers are responsible for enforcing laws related to commercial vehicles, including regulations on vehicle registration, safety, and weight limits. Duties include conducting investigations, inspections, and compliance surveys. The entry level worker in this series receives formal and on-the-job training on motor carrier safety rules and regulations, inspection practices and procedures, and accident investigation techniques, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Legal Authorization to Work: Citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- General
Experience:
One (1) year of work experience demonstrating knowledge of arithmetic, ability to read, understand, and explain rules and regulations, conduct inspections or investigations, follow instructions, and prepare clear reports. - Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds assisted by another person or equipment.
- Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
- State's Measure master License: Possess a valid State's Measure master License or be able to obtain within the first six months of employment.
