Teacher - Special Education, PK-12th Grade
Kilgore Independent School District (ISD) in Kilgore, Texas seeks a full‑time Special Education teacher for the school year. The role focuses on providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social potential, and enabling them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students with diverse learning needs.
- Design curriculum and instruction that meet state standards and the district's Accountability Plan.
- Use technology and information resources to support learning.
- Manage classroom behavior and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and specialists to assess student progress.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of student progress and instructional strategies.
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements in Special Education (or related training and work experience qualifying for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan).
Experience &
Skills:
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience in special education.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction, and subject‑matter expertise in assigned topics.
- Research and develop teaching units.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize technology and information resources.
- Proficiency in classroom behavior management.
Requirements:
- Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $46,500 to $73,165 per year, based on experience.
Starting Date: To Be Determined.
