This Adjunct Radiologic Science Instructor position requires in-person teaching at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. The Radiologic Science program is a key part of the college’s occupational education offerings. The instructor will report to the Radiologic Science Program Director and provide academic and administrative leadership of the department.
Responsibilities- Prepare and adhere to a syllabus in the Kilgore College required format.
- Clearly communicate course requirements, evaluation methods, deadlines, and policies to students.
- Develop rigorous methods for evaluating student learning outcomes and apply them fairly and consistently.
- Submit grades and required course documentation timely.
- Follow Kilgore College policies and procedures in all elements of course management.
- Maintain required office hours to support students and review examinations and graded work.
- Conduct classroom laboratory and/or online courses.
- Work closely with other departments in the division to manage shared space and resources.
- Prepare for and teach classes as assigned while using class time effectively.
- Develop appropriate grading policies and student assessment methods to monitor and communicate progress.
- Provide full information to students regarding course syllabi, objectives, text, and required materials.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
- Recognize individual differences in the classroom and adapt instructional techniques accordingly.
- Encourage and motivate students positively and professionally to do their best.
- Refer students to appropriate staff, office, or resource for information, guidance, financial assistance, placement, etc.
- Enforce regulations in the school catalog and student handbook.
- Attend scheduled faculty, department, and committee meetings.
- Use college equipment and property appropriately and ensure students do the same.
- Proficiency in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising.
- Current knowledge of discipline and educational methodologies through professional development.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Good customer-service skills and professionalism.
- Proficiency in typing, Microsoft Office, and email etiquette.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Problem-resolution and critical decision-making skills.
- Interpersonal communication to establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Physical ability to use a keyboard and computer terminal, with good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 12 pounds.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
- Two years of professional clinical experience in medical imaging.
- Two years of instructional experience preferred.
- Current registration in radiography from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or an equivalent.
- Familiarity with JRCERT accreditation standards.
- Candidates with post-primary certifications preferred.
- Adjunct faculty salary based on level of education: $1,800 per 3-hour course for a master’s degree and $2,000 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.
