This position is responsible for conducting the daily operations of Hope’s Closet Thrift Store and Donation Center, while providing leadership to staff, volunteers, and community service workers, and maintaining a clean, well‑organized store and production area.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee staff timekeeping, including scheduling, time submission for payroll, and time off requests.
  • Provide regular and ongoing encouraging and critical feedback necessary for staff team members to grow and develop.
  • With guidance from the Regional Retail Manager, apply correction action fairly when needed.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews.
  • Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and present a friendly, cooperative attitude towards donors, customers, and co‑workers.
  • Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, and work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment.
  • Responsible for maintaining store operations daily while following all policies and procedures.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day operations by keeping a clean, safe, and well‑maintained store, including the sales floor, production room, outside containers, and parking lot. Ensure all aisles and pathways to fire extinguishers and exits always remain clear of clutter.
  • Oversee scheduling, staff timekeeping, and time off requests. Occasionally cover open shifts and work outside scheduled hours.
  • Report all incidents to the Regional Retail Manager, including but not limited to attendance issues, customer complaints, and disruptive behavior. Keep accurate records of all reports.
  • Assist donors upon arrival by unloading and sorting donated materials, maintaining accurate donation records, and issuing completed receipts to all donors.
  • Operate the point‑of‑sale system, answer telephones, process client gift certificates and refunds, manage register opening and closing procedures, obtain change, make bank deposits as needed, train new hires, maintain sales floor standards, stock incoming merchandise, and ensure the sales floor remains clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Update merchandise pricing as needed, select items for clearance sales, rotate stock according to the color system, and colorize and organize shelves as trained.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training opportunities.
  • Ensure the security and safety of employees and always store property.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Retail Manager.
Qualifications

With reasonable accommodation, must have the ability to:

  • Respond to telephones, written correspondence, and other auditory and visual stimulation.
  • Remain calm under stress and have the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations.
  • Frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, and walk.
  • Frequently lift and carry items of at least 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb stairs or inclined surfaces.
  • Occasionally work outside during night hours and/or inclement weather.
