SUMMARYWe are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to facilitate the daily operations of our shipping department. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams. The Shipping Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient logistics operations, a safe and organized work area, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIALJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to those listed in the Summary section above, the following are duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:
- Pick and stage daily orders and consolidate orders completed from production.
- Schedule, route, and oversee all outgoing shipments to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.
- Determine space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lay out position of shipment.
- Generate all necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, and customs forms, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Verify all outbound shipments for accuracy, proper labeling, and quality.
- Act as the primary point of contact for carriers, freight forwarders, customers, and internal departments (e.g., sales and customer service) regarding shipment status and issues.
- Provide regular updates on shipment status and proactively resolve any discrepancies, delays, or damages that may arise.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
- Assist with cycle counts, stock audits, monitoring shipping material inventory levels, and ensure the proper allocation of space is determined.
- Keep meticulous and organized records of all shipping activities, costs, and tracking information, while ensuring all shipping transactions are processed accurately.
- Stay up to date on domestic and international shipping regulations to ensure all procedures meet legal and industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, freight forwarding, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience MRP/ERP systems, and/or with transportation management systems (TMS).
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
- A proactive and independent problem-solver who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as a forklift.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is a plus.
