Public Service Associate Clerk

Position performs a variety of complex tasks utilizing the Integrated Library System (ILS) for the smooth operation of the main public service areas of the library. Ability to make independent decisions regarding payments, clearing of records and office management. Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor for a front of house position dealing with students, faculty and staff. High school graduate or GED with six months clerical experience or certification / successful completion of relevant trade school or (30 college credit hours) required.

• Proficient in current technology and particularly those technologies directly related to the Library.
• Proficiency in general computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and database searching.
• Ability to demonstrate the use of the Library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
• Ability to interact effectively with the public and with all levels of employees.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.

• Perform a variety of clerical procedures related to library circulation routines at the main public service areas to include, circulation, multimedia lab and Learning Commons.
• Ability to learn Integrated Library Systems (SIRSIDYNIX), understand Library classification systems and the college resource management system, Colleague
• Perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance on copiers and microform readers / printers, such as replacing paper and print cartridges.
• Prepare and run online statistical records and reports.
• Perform other duties as required or approved by the Dean of Library Services.
